What We Do
The Colusa Family Resource Center offers a wide variety of services to children, families, and members of the community. Through our early learning and school readiness programs, we are preparing young children for routines and learning environments upon entering school. We believe that each family is STRONG in their own special way and we are here to help you succeed! The Nurturing Parenting Program is a great support group for parents that discusses different parenting related topics and offers a group based or individualized home-visiting model. We offer concrete supports to families when they are in need by facilitating referrals and expedited processes with other partnering agencies. We can help with a variety of issues! About our Program
The Colusa FRC and the Colusa County CAPC Office is located at 131 5th Street in Colusa. By utilizing satellite locations at the Stonyford Public Library and the Princeton Public Library, we are able to offer remote services and access to our Growing Start Parent Playgroups in those towns. Community members are welcome to come into our office during open office hours, or call us at 530.458.7678. If you are located in Stonyford or Princeton, we are available for remote services in those locations on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
By working closely with the Colusa County Free Library, we are able to partner and create a shared space for family engagement, parenting classes, and early learning through the Growing Start Parent Playgroups.
A children's area will be located within the library and offers a safe place for children to interact with materials and learning opportunities while parents utilize services within the library as well as the Family Resource Center.
By partnering with Frist 5 Colusa, we are able to extend many of the services offered through the Family Action Centers of Williams and Arbuckle to the Community of Colusa. Program materials, protocols, and assistance will be such an instrumental portion of the Colusa Family Resource Center and we are so grateful for our key partnering agencies.
Colusa County Community Advocates for Parents & Children (CAPC) was successfully awarded grant funds through the Office of Child Abuse Prevention (OCAP) and the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) in July of 2016.
The grant funding was through an RFA put out to support the, "Community in Unity," movement for grantees to propose a project that would make a difference in their community by focusing on key areas that have been identified as needing support.
Colusa County CAPC identified a need for a Family Resource Center within the city of Colusa to extend services to community members that cannot access services at the Family Action Centers of Williams and Arbuckle, and to bring a sense of community to the town of Colusa. By partnering with key agencies, Colusa County CAPC has been working on preparing programs, space, and staff to run and implement programs and services through the brand new Colusa Community in Unity Family Resource Center (Colusa FRC).
